Egg vs Chicken

Which came first?

by Vincent Van Ross
Which came first?

The question whether the egg came first or the chicken is really a baseless one.  It is obvious that the chicken came first.  In fact, there is a clear reference to this effect in the Holy Bible.
In the first book of the Bible called the ‘Genesis’ which deals with ‘Creation,’ Verse 21 of Chapter 1 clearly says: ‘So God created the great sea-monsters, all kinds of creatures that live in the water and all kinds of birds.’ According to the Bible, the birds were created on the fifth day of creation.
Even when Noah was preparing for the ‘Great Deluge,’ it was one specimen each of the male and female of each living being that was gathered in Noah’s Arc—not their eggs.
In the case of human beings, it was Man and Woman in the form of Adam and Eve who were created. Children are only part of the reproductive process of human beings.  Likewise, eggs are only part of the reproductive process. And, it was the Cock and the Hen that were created by God.
If we take the evolutionary route, we know that birds and mammals evolved from fishes and reptiles which were among the first of the vertebrates to appear on the Earth’s surface.  Birds were the first to evolve from reptiles.  Mammals came much later. Both reptiles and birds reproduce through eggs which are hatched. Mammals, including human beings, produce babies after a gestation period.  However, there is nothing in the literature of the world to indicate that birds evolved from eggs or that the first bird was hatched out of an egg.
Even if we assume hypothetically that the egg came first, we would need at least two eggs to carry forward the reproductive process. Not only that, we would also have to ensure that the two eggs produce a male and a female. If the two eggs hatch into two males or two females, the reproductive process would end there.
So, it is absolutely clear that it was the chicken, and not the egg, which came first.
