Let women play role in nat’l economy: Speakers

Rajshahi:  Speakers at a reception ceremony in Rajshahi today (Tuesday) said the country's womenfolk should be given scopes so they can contribute to the national economy, reports BSS.
They stated that there is no alternative to involving women in the money rotating activities to make them empowered. If the women get full-length scope they can bring more award and fame for the country, they added. They were addressing the ceremony organised marking the reception accorded to Ayesha Akter Jahan Dalia for her attaining the Best European Business Awards-2015 recently at Nanking Darbar Hall in the city.
Citizens Reception Committee organized the function where a large number of people comprising members of the civil society, professional leaders, media personnel and businessmen attended.
Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Dr Mijanuddin and Vice-chancellor of North Bengal International University Prof Dr Abdul Khaleque addressed the ceremony as the chief and special guests respectively with Prof Shirin Sufiya Khanom, former chairman of Rajshahi Education Board, in the chair.
Language Veteran Abul Hossain, Prof Dr Golam Sabbir Sattar Tapu from Rajshahi University, Editor of the Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali and Principal of Rajshahi Court College Prof Safiqur Rahman also spoke.
Speaking on the occasion, Aktar Jahan Dalia, wife of State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam stated that women entrepreneurs of the country were facing a number of obstacles which should be removed.
She, however, said that women entrepreneurs should seize every opportunity offered by the government.
She stated that professional training could help women entrepreneurs realise these opportunities.
As a whole, she said, women, especially entrepreneurs, can progress only if the authorities concerned ease the way for them in launching their start-ups.
