The ant-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday sealed off an unauthorised pharmaceutical factory and fined its owner to Tk 3 lakh for manufacturing and marketing unapproved drugs. Talking to The Independent, RAB-2 Director Lt Col SM Masud Rana said getting secrete information, a team of RAB-2 led by Deputy Director Lt Commander Sazzad Raihan raided at Pinnacle Sourcing Ltd, a pharmaceutical company at Banani in the capital around 4pm. After searching the factory, the elite force personnel found that several life saving drugs were being produced without approval from the Drug Administration Directorate. Later we detained its owner Debasish Bhattachariya and during primary interrogation, he admitted that he was manufacturing and marketing these drugs illegally for more than eight years. A mobile court led by RAB executive magistrate Anisur Rahman sealed off the factory and fined Debasish to Tk 3 lakh.
