BSRM has started to produce 50 mm reinforcing steel only for Padma Bridge, the first largest diameter rebar in Bangladesh on the reinforcing steel platform. This rebar is produced at BSRM steels plant at Fouzderhat, Chittagong “We have gone through a trial production on April 2015 for such higher diameter bar to targeting the ideal choice of material in large infrastructure in Bangladesh where service life demands are often over a hundred years.” said Aameir Alihussain, group managing director of BSRM.
“We have made successful steel production on last august to supply 50mm bar only for Padma Bridge.
Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), the Chinese contractor for Padma Bridge, has taken 216 tones for main bridge works from BSRM,” he added.
“We were being able to roll quite efficiently from 8 mm to 40 mm diameter reinforcing steel since 2008.
In 2015 we had successfully made production of rebar 50 mm diameter quality products that meet the international standards.” M Firoze, BSRM head of marketing & product development said at a press meet yesterday.
“ We are excited that we are the first manufacturer in the sub-continent who has achieves this milestone. The large diameter steel is fully complying to the UK standard,” he added.
