Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in a drive yesterday demolished hundreds of illegal makeshift shops in Gulistan area of the capital, reports UNB.
The drive, led by DSCC executive magistrate Khan Mohammad Nazmus Shoaib, began at Golapshah Mazar intersection around 11am and ended at Sergeant Ahad Police Box Mor via Gulistan intersection, evicting all the makeshift shops on both sides of the road and the footpath.
Members of police and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) assisted the DSCC officials during the drive.
The Jubo League office at Gulistan intersection was also evicted. Dhaka South City Corporation in a drive on Decemeber 19 last year also remove around 50 illegal establishments from Gulistan area in the capital. Sources at DSCC said the eviction drive, led by DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon, started at around 11:30am.
