Bangladesh Under-19 skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz said that they want to go into the upcoming ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 keeping the winning streak from the three-match youth ODI home series against West Indies.
“The three-match 50-overs series against West Indies will start from tomorrow. The series is very important for us as it’ll be the last opportunity for us to take the full-fledged match preparation for the World Cup. We’ll try to play well amending our past errors in this series,” said Mehidy Hasan Miraz yesterday.
“We want to win all the three matches of the series. We will be brimmed with confidence if we could go into the world Cup with winning mode,” Miraz told media after their pre-match day practice session at National Cricket Academy in Mirpur.
The skipper, who led Bangladesh in the past edition in UAE, said that they have prepared their game plan for the series.
“We’ve no more chance for experiment. We’ll play as per our game plan. We’ve come on the verge of the World Cup. We have already devised all of our game plans. We’ll fight in the ground with our best effort,” he insisted.
This year Bangladesh have the highest number of experienced players in their World Cup arsenal than other teams. These players are Najmul Hossain Shanto, Joyraj Sheik Imon, Zakir Hasan and Saeed Sarker, who will perform along with Mehidy Hasan.
Spinner-turned middle-order batsman said that they want to dominate the pacers of the visiting side in the series.
“West Indian pacers are very good. But if we could play dominating their pacers in the series then it will be easier for us to play the World Cup,” the 19-year-old all-rounder thought.
The experienced skipper said that they have enough strength to bemuse their opponent at home condition.
“We saw their bowlers and batsmen while we were doing our gym. They’ve left-handed batsmen more. It’s a big chance for us as we’ve four left-arm off-spinners in the team, who will help more for us,” he reckoned.
“We’ve quality spinners in our team. We’re very confident about them. If our batsmen could score more on the scoreboard then the act of bowlers will be easier for them,” he said.
