NOAKHALI: Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said those who used to rebuke Awami League as an agent of India are now making frantic efforts to get certificate to be Indian agent, reports BSS. He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a reception accorded to the students, who got GPA-5 in SSC, Dakhil and vocational examinations, 2015, at Bashurhat municipality auditorium in Companiganj upazila yesterday. “The 40-year-old wall of mistrust and suspicion (with India) has been removed. The uncertainty of 52,000 enclave people has ended. Now a new bond has developed and all these have been possible because of the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” the minister said. Obaidul said there will be road connectivity among Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan soon. This will allow plying of private cars and goods-laden vehicles among these four countries, he said. An agreement would be signed among the four countries in this regard on June 12 and the deal would come into force in next six months, Obaidul Quader added. The minister said a deal would be signed with China soon to construct a tunnel under the Karnafuli River. Presided over by Bashurhat Municipality Mayor Mirza Quader, the function was also addressed by Companiganj Upazila Chairman Mizanur Rahman Badal, Upazila Awami League President Khijir Hayat, among others.
