12 shops, 3 houses gutted

BRAHMANBARIA: Some 12 shops and three dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Sonarampur Bazar of Bancharampur upazila here on Friday, reports BSS.
The fire originated from an electric short-circuit in Halim Sarkar Super Market area at about 3 pm and quickly engulfed other adjacent shops and houses.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bancharampur Model Thana Ongshu Kumar Dev confirmed the incident and said local people doused the blaze after one hour of hectic efforts.
A huge quantity of properties was gutted in the fire, the OC added.
