A station master has been suspended following the train accident in Narsinhdi on Friday night. A four-member committee, headed by divisional railway official Mahbubur Rahman, has also been formed to investigate the incident.
Two persons were killed after the engine of Titas Commuter derailed at Singrhagachha at around 8:30pm on Friday. More than 20 passengers were also injured in the panic movement after the derailment. The probe team has been asked to submit its report within three working days. “Primary investigation suggests that the accident has happened due to wrong signaling. Assistant Station Master Shajahan Mia has been temporarily suspended after the accident,” OC of Bhairab railway police Saidul Islam said. Shajahan Mia has been absconding since the accident. A case was filed in this connection. Train communications between Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Sylhet and Dhaka- Noakhali resumed at 5.30 am yesterday.
