Workshop on self assessment held at Gono Bishwabidyalay
A day-long Workshop on Sensitisation Workshop on Self Assessment at Programme Level was held at Gono Bishwabidyalay campus yesterday, says a press release.
The workshop was organised by the microbiology department of the university at the seminar room of academic building.
The IQAC Director of Gono Bishwabidyalay and head of microbiology department Prof Dr Md Mostafizer Rahman presented the keynote paper on Enhancing quality education through Self Assessment Procedure while chief guest was universitys Vice-chancellor Prof Mesbahuddin Ahmad. The speakers said we have to justify our teachers by self assessment process to ensure quality education.
Otherwise we would not be able to survive in competitive global market.
Students and teachers of the department took part in the workshop. They also participated in an open discussion session. Dr Rezwana Khan, Head, Self Assessment Committee chaired the function.
RUET builds new modern gate
RAJSHAHI: After 52 years of establishment, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has started constructing its new gate set to be enriched with modern architectural and attractive outlook, a RUET press release said yesterday.
Design of the under-construction new gate has been prepared by the teachers of RUETs Architecture Department. The works are scheduled to be finished by next June at a cost of Taka 51.69 lakh.
RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg inaugurated the construction works yesterday urging all concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty so that its works are completed timely and accurately.
He mentioned that the RUET is only the highest seat of engineering learning in the countrys northwest region. Whereas, he said its gate was remained deplorable condition during the last long 52 years.
Upon its successful completion, the new gate will enhance viewpoint of the ancient institution to a greater extent, Prof Beg expected.
Registrar-in-Charge Prof Mosharraf Hossain, Engineering Faculty Dean Prof Iqbal Matin, Mechanical Engineering Faculty Dean Prof Dr Nirendra Nath Mustafi, Electronic and Computer Science Faculty Dean Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, Applied Science Faculty Dean Prof Mazedur Rahman, Development and Planning Director Prof Shamimur Rahman, Students Welfare Director Prof NHM Kamruzzaman and Chief Engineer Md Shahadat Hossain were present on the occasion.
Interview for IU special quota begins
KUSHTIA: Interview for the admission of special quota of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia under academic session 2015-16 began yesterday.
It started at the office room of special quota convener Prof Dr M Saidur Rahman at about 10-30 yesterday morning.
The interview for the quota of the aspirants of freedom fighters children was held yesterday while the aspirants of disabled, harijan and tribal will be held today at the same place, quota office sources said.
Convener of the special quota Prof Dr M Saidur Rahman told BSS that after completion of interview list of the successful candidates will be published soon to enable them to take admission to the university by January 20.
Seminar on proposal writing held at NSU
The School of Health and Life Sciences of North South University (NSU) organised a seminar on how to write a grant proposal at the syndicate hall of the university recently, says a press release.
Munirul Alam, senior scientist, Infectious Disease Division (IDD), icddr,b, Processor Dr Salina Perveen, Food Science Tech Programme, Department of Agriculture, University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, Antar Jutla, assistant professor, Department of Civil Environmental Engineering, West Virginia University, USA, were the speakers of the session from the US delegation team. Gour Gobinda Goswami, vice-chancellor, in charge, North South University, was the special guest.
