Member of Advisory Council of Awami League (AL) Dr SA Malek yesterday said no unity would be forged with those who have patronized militancy, reports BSS.
“It is not possible to form a national unity with those people who have patronized and nurtured militancy. . . Without ideological similarity, national unity will not forged,” he told a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.
Bangabandhu Parishad organized the discussion on the occasion of Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Former Dean of DU Pharmacy Faculty Prof Dr ABM Faruqe and teachers, among others, addressed the discussion.
Malek, also general secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad, criticized the call of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to form a national unity.
But it is not possible to forge a national unity with the party as they have patronized militancy and terrorism, he added.
Calling for severing all sorts of relation with Pakistan, Prof Arefin said Bangladesh government should not continue any relation with Pakistan because of their heinous role during the War of Liberation.
