The two-day Lalon Mela concluded on Khilda High School premises in kalihati upazila yesterday amid great fanfare and resolves to establish a society free of discord, militancy and terrorism following the ideals of Lalon Shah, the legendary mystic poet and reformer.
It was arranged. The Mela, arranged by Sadhu Sangha, was formally inaugurated on Thursday by chief adviser of ‘Sadhu Sangha’ Gobinda Gosai.
A discussion was held on the occasion. Among others, headmaster of Khilda Govt. primary school Nazrul Islam and High School Md. Akbor Hossain, ex-teacher of kalihati RS high school Gobinda Chandra, president of Sadhu Sangha Md. Altab Shah Fakir, chairman of Bangra UP Riaz Uddin, secretary of Kalihati Press Club and founder of Sadhu Sangha Shah Alam spoke on the occasion.
Haradhan Voumik, literary secretary of the Sangha, said they have arranged the Mela with a view to spreading the message of Lalon for establishing social harmony. Artistes of Lalon Academay of Khustia rendered Lalon songs at the Mela. Large number of Lalon devotees irrespective of caste, creed, sex and religion attended the Mela.
