A traditional bullock cart race was held at Betai-Chandipur village in Jhenidah sadar upazila on Thursday. The Bullock Cart Competition-2016 was organised by Ganna Union Juba Samity.
Some 15 carts driven by bulls from different parts Chuadanga, Kushtia and Jhenidah took part in the competition.
At the programme, additional superintendent of police (ASP) Protash Kumar Mazumdar was present as chief guest. Assistant superintendent of police Gopinath Kanzilal, officer in charge of sadar thana Hasan Hafizur Rahman among others were present as special guests.
After the competition, chairman of Ganna Union Masud Parvez Lilton Biswas gave away the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Ranu Biswas from Betai Chandi-pur village clinched the first place in the completion. The first prize carries a 21-inch colour television.
From the very beginning until its end, the festival goes into rhapsodies with the sounds of clapping, cheering and encouraging. Enjoying the race, audiences only need to stand on a higher point in comparison with the mentioned muddy paddy field.
