GAIBANDHA: Speakers in a function here underscored the need for increasing people’s awareness about natural disasters including earthquake to reduce the losses of lives and damage of properties, reports BSS.
They also expressed their view that Bangladesh is also in the risk of newly added earthquake as the country particularly the northern region is situated in the seismic zone because of its geographical location.
They opinion came at the meeting of disaster management committee (DMC) at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) here on Thursday afternoon with DC M. Abdus Samad in the chair.
As Bangladesh is one of the major natural disaster-prone countries in the world, there is the high possibility of increasing the natural calamities including earthquake in the country, the speakers said.
