Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif yesterday said the anti-liberation BNP-Jamaat alliance is hatching conspiracies to thwart the country's development activities, reports BSS. "BNP-Jamaat alliance always tries to halt the country's progress. But the incumbent government is continuing the development activities to build a poverty and hunger-free country," he said. The minister was addressing as the chief guest at a function of sewing machines distribution among trainees at Khoirash Government Primary School under Chatmahar upazila in the district. He said after the Awami League led government came to power, the trial of crimes against humanity is being continued and several war criminals had walked to gallows amid different national and international conspiracies. The government has made a remarkable progress in women empowerment, poverty alleviation, increasing of growth rate and flourishing of information and communication technology, Sherif said. Society for Social and Technological Support organised the function with its director general Dr Sayeed Sabari Rajab in the chair. Chatmahar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Begum Seheli Laila and Chatmahar upazila unit of Awami League general secretary Abdul Malek joined the function as the special guests.
