Two-day job fair begins at RUET
RAJSHAHI: Offering an opportunity to students to secure employment, a two-day job fair began for the first time in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) camps today, a RUET press release here said.
RUET's Office of the Students Welfare and RUET Career Forum (RCF) jointly organised the fair. More than 12 famous and big companies including Grameenphone, BSRM Steel Mills and Runner Automobile are taking part in the event.
RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg attended the opening session as the chief guest. Registrar-in-Charge Prof Dr Mosharraf Hossain, Students Welfare Director Prof Dr NHM Kamruzzaman and Deputy Directot Sidhwartha Shanker Shaha also spoke.
Prof Rafique Beg said the fair is an excellent platform for eligible candidates to get good jobs. He urged the candidates to avail the opportunity properly. The fair remains open for the students from 9am to 6pm till today.
Int'l conference on renewable energy starts
The 4th International Conference on the Developments in Renewable Energy Technology (ICDRET-2016) organised by United International University (UIU) began at UIU auditorium on Thursday, says a press release.
 State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, was the chief guest while Faridur Rahman Khan, vice chairman, Board of Trustees, UIU and MD, United Hospital Limited, was the special guest. M Rezwan Khan, vice-chancellor of UIU, presided over the programme.  AKM Sadrul Islam, chair Technical Committee, SM Lutful Kabir Co-Chair, Technical Committee, Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury, Co-Chair of Organizing Committee and Raqibul Mostafa, head of EEE department, also addressed the audience.
A total of 134 technical papers from ten different countries were received in the conference. The conference will end today.
2nd Annual Gobeshona Confce begins at IUB
The inaugural ceremony of a four-day ‘2nd Annual Gobeshona Conference’ organised by International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) was held on IUB campus at Bashundhara in the capital yesterday, says a press release
The conference will run from January 8 to 11 2016. The Gobeshona Conference for Research on Climate Change in Bangladesh is an annual conference that showcases research on climate change in Bangladesh. French Ambassador to Bangladesh Sophie Aubert inaugurated the conference as chief guest while Dr Karl Wurster, deputy director, Economic Growth Environment, USAID, attended as special guest. Dr Ainun Nishat, professor emeritus, BRAC University, chaired the inaugural ceremony. M Omar Rahman, vice chancellor of IUB and Dr Saleemul Huq, director, ICCCAD, delivered the welcome speeches.
