Bangladesh Coast Guard seized about 4,000 kg banned polythene from a cargo ship on the Buriganga River in Pangaon port of Fatullah in Naryanganj district early yesterday, reports UNB. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Pagla station of the coast guard conducted the drive at around 6 am and recovered the banned polythence consignment worth around Tk 6 lakh from waterways cargo ‘Mayer Doa’ on the river. The seized polythene consignment was destroyed in presence of the district environment officer of Naryangonj, officials of the Coas Guard headquarters said.
