A weeklong Anti Drug Debate Festival is set to begin on January 18 in the capital aiming to make anti-drug campaign popular creating mass awareness on its harmful effect, reports BSS. Debate for Democracy and Department of Narcotics Control will organize the debate festival, a press release said yesterday. Inspector General of Bangladesh Police AKM Shahidul Hoque will formally inaugurate the festival. It will be participated by colleges across the country including Viqarunnesa Noon College, Siddheswari Girls College, St. Joseph Higher Secondary School and South Point College. Debate topics include causes and trends of drug addition, social awareness for narcotics control, media role in controlling narcotics, parental role and civil society engagement in anti drug campaign. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan is expected to attend the closing session as the chief guest on January 24.
