THE WAY

THE WAY

By Reaz Haider

With the high prices of movie tickets in multiplexes, torrent has become popular these days for watching movies. Torrent, a file transfer system, has totally changed the way many see movies. Anyone with a computer can view any movie, anytime.
Here’s a review of an excellent movie, with pretty good cinematography and music that you may enjoy via torrent:
‘The Way’ (2011), written and directed by Emilio (Bobby) Estevez is the story of a son’s wonderful gift to his father. And the film itself is Estevez’s gift to his real-life father, Martin Sheen, a soulful journey created to fulfil Sheen’s long-held dream of walking the historic Way of St James in Spain.
The Way of St James has been trod by Catholics, seekers and trekkers for a thousand years. Besides its spiritual and scenic aspects, the pilgrimage route passes through Galicia, birthplace of Sheen’s father, Francisco, to whom the film is dedicated.
‘The Way’ is a powerful and inspirational story about family, friends and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Sheen plays Tom, an irascible American doctor who comes to France to deal with the tragic loss of his son (played by Estevez). Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage, The Way of St James, to honour his son’s desire to finish the journey. What Tom doesn’t plan on is the profound impact this trip will have on him. Through unexpected and oftentimes amusing experiences along ‘The Way’, Tom discovers the difference between “the life we live and the life we choose”.
Inexperienced as a trekker, Tom soon discovers that he will not be alone on this journey. On The Way, Tom meets other pilgrims from around the world, each with their own issues, seeking greater meaning in their lives _ a Dutchman (Yorick van Wageningen), a Canadian (Deborah Kara Unger) and an Irish writer (James Nesbitt), who is suffering from a bout of writer’s block.
From the unexpected and, oftentimes, amusing experiences along ‘The Way’, this unlikely quartet of misfits creates an everlasting bond, and Tom begins to learn what it means to be a citizen of the world again.
