Orientation programme held at EWU
East West University (EWU) organised orientation programme on its campus at Aftabnagar, Dhaka yesterday, says a press release.
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq was the chief guest. MM Shahidul Hassan, vice-chancellor of EWU, inaugurated the orientation programme while Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson of Board of Trustees of EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, chaired.
The objective of the programme was to welcome the new students and orient them to the university facilities, faculty members and academic system.
Speakers welcomed freshers’ on the EWU campus and urged the newly admitted students to make the best use of the University resources and emphasized the need for high ethical standards. Members of board trustees, treasurer, deans of faculties, chairpersons of departments, faculty members and administrative officers of this university were also present on the occasion.
Seminar on proposal writing held at NSU
The School of Health and Life Sciences of North South University (NSU) organised a seminar on ‘how to write a grant proposal’ at the syndicate hall of the university recently, says a press release.
Professor Anwar Huq of Maryland Pathogen Research Institute, Department of Cell Biology & Molecular Genetics, University of Maryland, USA, was the keynote speaker of the occasion. Professor Huq was accompanied with his team of renowned scientists from various esteemed universities who also presented their research findings on various public health issues.
Professor Anwar Huq suggested valuable tips for writing a successful research grant application which will help new researcher/investigators to make their proposal more suitable for grants and ensure sustainability of projects.
Professor Huq also focused on the benefits of multidisciplinary research approach and his speech also highlighted the issues of cholera disease and its control and related interventions.
Munirul Alam, senior scientist, Infectious Disease Division (IDD), icddr,b, Processor Dr Salina Perveen, Food Science & Tech Programme, Department of Agriculture, University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, Antar Jutla, assistant professor, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, West Virginia University, USA, were the speakers of the session from the US delegation team. Gour Gobinda Goswami, vice-chancellor, in charge, North South University, was the special guest.
2-day job fair at RUET from today
RAJSHAHI: A two-day job fair is going to start at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) from today for the first time.
RUET's Office of the Students Welfare and RUET Career Forum (RCF) will jointly organise the fair scheduled to be attended by various famous and big companies including Grameenphone, BSRM Steel Mills and Runner Automobile, a RCF press release said yesterday.
The release said the fair will be an excellent platform for eligible candidates to get good jobs. Some seminars will be held during the two-day fair.
Senior officials and human resource experts are expected to address the seminars to educate the students for becoming eligible candidates to get better jobs.
The fair will remain open for the students from 9am to 6pm every day.
