The 4th edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) longer version for the 2015-16 season is scheduled to kick off at two different venues of Bogra and Rajshaahi from January 12.
A total of 80 best cricketers will play in the league. This time the league will be evolved by the double league system without the participation of the national team’s players, who will be busy in their national commitment at home yard against Zimbabwe.
Akram Khan, chairman of BCB tournament committee, stated this at a media briefing and said that they are going to launch the BCL fourth edition with some changes.
“We’re going to embark on the 4th BCL (longer version) for the 2015-2016 season. We’ve delayed two days from the previous schedule because of the national player’s programme,” said Akram Khan, who is also a board director.
“And so, we’re going to begin the tournament from January 12. We brought some changes in format than the previous edition. Ahead of an international tournament, we first organised an ODI tournament consulting with franchisees and then arranged the longer version,” Khan told media at the media block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“But this year we’re doing the longer version on the basis of double league system. It is being held from January 12. It needs almost 40-45 days to finish the tournament,” he added. Akram said that they are going to stage the current edition following the policy of the board.
“The board previously fixed their policy, where it was told that if any franchisee allow and release any player from their zone then he will play in other team. We’re following that rules,” ex-captain reckoned.
“Actually I’ve no such interest. But what is being told involving me that was totally intentional. I’m not giving any extra advantage to a team. Even I’m not an employee of Islami Bank,” he told in response to a query.
The BCB is yet to get any title sponsor for the fourth edition of BCL. Akram khan said that they didn’t increase the amount of match fee along with the other prize money.
