Any of the six foreign teams, who are coming to take part in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament, did not raise any question or claim about the security issue in Bangladesh.
The seven-nation tournament will kick off from tomorrow at the Shams-ul-Huda Stadium in Jessore. Apart from Bangladesh national team and Olympic football team, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Malaysia, Bahrain, Maldives and Cambodia are six foreign teams will compete in the third edition of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is all set to organise the tournament successfully in two venues in Jessore and Dhaka. BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedi told a press conference at the BFF Bhaban yesterday that they would provide the all kinds of security to the participating teams from home and abroad.
He said that they are prepared to organise the tournament with peacefully as they have already taken all kinds of security measures and also ready just to start the competition.
“No, any of the foreign country did not make any complain or question to us about the security issue in Bangladesh,” Salam Murshedi replied to a query when Australian Under-19 Cricket team refused to come in Bangladesh to play the ICC Under-19 World Cup cricket following their senior team’s cancelling the Bangladesh tour, last year.
However, Sheikh Maruf Hassan, the executive member of the BFF and chairman of the security and traffic management sub-committee, explained all about their security plans in Jessore and Dhaka.
“We will maintain special security measures including ‘Dog Squad’ for the teams’ smooth movement from airport to hotels, practice and main grounds. There will be a special traffic control system to monitor the security.”
Meanwhile, the private television Channel 9 will telecast all the matches while they bought the broadcasting rights of the tournament.
