The government has permitted 41 organisations to export 2.77 lakh bales of raw jute, reports UNB. The Textiles and Jute Ministry took the decision following requests from the exporters.
As per the decision, the organisations can export the raw jute through 251 Letters of Credit issued before November 3 last year. Earlier on December 15, the ministry issued a circular mentioning that the raw jute can be exported after processing through four special processes.
The circular said the jute export under automatic scanning, machine cut jute, jute silver and jute tow will remain outside purview of the ban.
On December 3, the government banned the export of raw jute in order to strictly implement the Mandatory Jute Packaging Act 2010.
