Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc yesterday said the Saudi government has showed its keenness to take a male relative along with each female worker without any cost, reports UNB.
He came up with the information while addressing a press briefing at the ministry.
“Recently, we had a meeting with the Labour Minister of Saudi Arabia on the security of female workers. At the meeting, the Saudi government expressed its eagerness to take two lakh female workers. Alongside, they’ll also take two lakh close male relatives of the female workers,” Nurul said.
Referring to the close relatives, the minister said husbands, brothers or cousins could get a chance to go with the female workers.
However, the process of sending the male persons with the female ones will be finalised after signing an agreement in this regard, he said, adding: “I hope it will be signed soon.”
Nurul also said some 555,881 workers went to different countries with various jobs in 2015, up 30 percent than the previous year.
Meanwhile, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Khandaker Iftekhar Haidar said the Saudi government will take male workers in 12 sectors, including driving, security and supervision.
