Barisal panel mayor sent to jail

Barisal CMM court sent Alhajj K M Shahidullah, panel mayor of Barisal City Corporation, to Barisal central jail yesterday.
He was detained from his house in Alekanda area Tuesday noon by the member of RAB-8.
Shahidullah was also the president of Barisal district unit Swessasebak Dal and former vice president of city unit BNP.
He was first detained for his alleged involved with subversive activities and later handed over to Barisal Model Kotwali thana at 1:30am Monday midnight with a USA made pistol and three rounds of bullet. RAB-8 in an official statement said that the illegal arms and ammunition were recovered from his business office in the ground floor of his house. Deputy Assistant Director of RAB-8 Sikdar Asrafur Rahman filed an arms case against BCC panel mayor KM Shahidullah with Barisal Model Kotwali Thana. He was later sent to Barisal chief metropolitan magistrate court yesterday morning. After rejecting the bail prayer chief metropolitan magistrate of Barisal Md. Ali Hossain ordered to send him to Barisal Central Jai yesterday noon, said Advocate Abul Kalam Shahin.
