Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday afternoon arrested four alleged human traffickers along with 900 passports from Banani area in the capital.
Talking to The Independent yesterday afternoon, Lt Col Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, commanding officer of RAB-2 said,‘‘ Getting secret information, a team of RAB-2 led by Assistant Police Commissioner Yasir Arafat raided the office of Miner International in capital’s Banani area around 4:05pm Tuesday.’’
After searching the office, we arrested four human traffickers along with 900 passports, 5 seals, 2 visa applications , 17 medical reports, 5 mobile phones and Tk 16,100 from their possession, he added. During the primary interrogation, the arrested human traffickers admitted that they were collecting huge amount of money from the people across the country in the name of sending them Libya with better job.
Then they deposit the passports and money to Dr H Kazi, who is currently absconding. However, manpower exports to Libya are currently stopped due to the ongoing deadly conflicts there. But after taking their passports, the human traffickers make them hostage and collect money forcibly, said Lt Col Mohiuddin. A case was filed and the arrested were handed over to the police.
