Students stage demonstrations

Students of honours third year under National University (NU) of various educational institutes in the city yesterday formed a human chain demanding reschedule their final examinations. They demanded at least a month time for exam preparation. Students of Rajshahi College honours third year organised the programme, where thousand students joined. Later they formed a human chain in Saaheb Bazaar Zero point intersection of the city. Robius Sani, Shamsuzzhoa Rifat, Tusher Tanvir of Accounting department, Ruposh Salam of Management department, Mohammad Sharif, Chemistry department and Tirtho Banarzee of Statistics department of Rajshahi College spoke at the human chain. It is learnt, they will continue their demonstration today.
Staff reporter adds from Barisal: Students of Barisal Brojomohun College (BM College) formed a human chain in front of the college yesterday protesting for changing the date of honours second year examination. Demanding examination date be changed the angry students also blocked the road for half an hour. The national university authority announced the date of the examination from January 20, before 4 months of the year ending. During the programmes student leaders, including Jamal Uddin, Afzal Hossen, were addressed the rally. During the agitation programme students said they would wage tougher movement if the National University authority is not changed the date of the examination. They also threatened to boycott the exam in support of their right. At one stage principal of the collage Prof Emanul Hakim Badsha and police officials rushed to the road and took the situation under control.  Huge policemen were deployed in the college area to avoid untoward situation.
