The government has extended the appointment of Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Abul Kalam Azad by 11 months from January 7 this year on contractual basis.
“He (Azad) has been appointed as principal secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on contractual basis until December 1, 2016 canceling his post-retirement leave (LPR),” said a notification, issued by the Public Administration Ministry yesterday. “His appointment will be effective either from January 7 or the date he joins the office,” the notification added. Azad, a BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) administration cadre 1982 special batch officer, has been working at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as principal secretary from February 17, 2015, though he had joined the PMO as secretary on january 19, 2014.
