Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Abbas Vaezi yesterday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, at the latter's office, a DU release said, reports BSS. During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on biological sciences, mechatronics engineering, nuclear engineering, nanotechnology, art, film and television by the University of Dhaka and higher educational institutions in Iran. "Iran government is willing to provide more scholarships to DU students for higher study in Iran. Besides, different universities in Iran want to introduce joint PhD programmes with the University of Dhaka", the Iranian envoy informed the VC. They have agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon. DU VC said the friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Iran has been prevailing for long. He hoped that these friendly ties between the two countries would be strengthened further in the days to come.
