The law enforcing agencies in the city have taken tight security measures ahead of today’s (January 5) programme of Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).Abu Sayed, spokesman and assistant commissioner of police of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP), said they refused to give permission to Awami League and BNP for holding any programme. He said city unit of AL and BNP both applied for permission of rally to observe the day in front of their offices at Sadar road areas. But to maintain the law and order we did not give permission to both parties. If the parties hold meeting inside their offices that will be allowed but no programmes would be allowed in the city roads. BMP sources said that more than six hundred members of different law enforcing agencies were engaged in this duty with arms and metal detectors. Besides police, RAB and armed police battalion have been patrolling the roads and out skirts of the city.
