2 diagnostic centres fined Tk 14 lakh in Ctg

Two prominent diagnostic centres in the port city were fined Taka 14 lakh for using date expired re-agents (Chemicals using for diagnosis purpose) and selling unapproved medicines. Sarwar ALam, executive magistrate of RAB Headquarters led the drive and fined these prominent two diagnostic centres named Chevron and CSCR yesterday during separate drives. The court fined Chevron Tk 10 lakh and CSCR Tk 4 lakh. “The diagnostic centre Chevron was diagnosing diseases in an unhygienic environment with date-expired re-agents and for selling unapproved medicines and chemicals, said Sarwar ALam. ‘We have fined the Chevron Tk 10 lakh, and fined Tk4 lakh to CSCR for using date expiry re-agents and while doing diagnosis in unhygienic environment”, he added.
The mobile court yesterday also fined a steel mill named Beltz Steel Mills in Kalurghat Industrial area to Tk 5lakh as it was not maintaining grade ASTM500, however, the company mentioned that their rods are ASTM500 standard. “We found the rods below the grade so the company fined Tk5 lakh,” said Sarwar Alam.  A mobile court yesterday fined three prominent sweetmeat shops in Chittagong to Tk300,000 as the court found dead cockroaches, insects and  flies on the sweetmeats of those shops. Chittagong District Administration Magistrate and Deputy Revenue Collector Ruhul Amin led the court. During the drive huge sweetmeats, which were found in unhygienic environment, were destroyed, said Ruhul Amin.  
The court fined Tk 200,000 to Bose & Brothers in Nandokanon area, Tk 50,000 fined to Royal Bengal Sweets (Known as Bombywalar Dokan) of Enayet Bazar and Tk 50,000 fined to Iqbal Sweetmeat of Didar market area. The mobile court also fined a drug store at DC road of Bakalia area to Tk30, 000 for selling government medicines, unapproved medicines, unapproved food supplement, said Ruhul Amin.
