Jessore: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members in a drive seized 100 turtles of rare species worth Tk 8 lakh from Putkhali border area of Benapole yesterday, reports UNB. Tipped off, a team of the border force conducted a drive in the area in the morning and seized the turtles, said commanding officer of BGB battalion 21 Lt Col Abdur Rahim. However, the smugglers fled the scene sensing the presence of BGB members, he added. The turtles were handed over to Jessore Forest Department.
