PANCHAGARH: The poor and marginal farmers as well as officials concerned of DAE are expecting a satisfactory price and production of onion in the district in the current season, reports UNB.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has provided fertilisers and seeds among the farmers and arranged a short term training session for the farmers.
DAE office sources said the farmers have been brought over 450 hectares of land under onion cultivation in all the five upazilas of the districts with the production target of 5,400 tonnes of onion.
Various government steps and favorable climatic conditions including its vast Barind tract predicting a bumper production.
Deputy Director of DAE, Panchagarh, M Ashraf Ali said harvesting will begin next month if the weather condition remains favorable.
To make the programme a success DAE, BARI, BADC and many NGOs have taken adequate steps.
