Sports Reporter

The Bangladesh national team got down to their usual business yesterday in a bid to take a good preparation for the upcoming four-match T20 series against Zimbabwe.
The cricketers however came off a short holiday following a busy year in 2015 which ended with the third edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) called up 27 members in the preliminary squad from which 25 players made their report to the team management yesterday. Premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is holidaying in USA with his wife and new-born baby and Imrul Kayes weren’t present on the first day’s camp. Kayes had an operation on his nose in Kolkata a few days back. He is expected to join the camp at some point
while Shakib will be back before the series against Zimbabwe, scheduled to begin on January 14.
Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha however is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh tonight. The players will continue their gym and fitness session however until Hathurusingha joined them.
The selectors meanwhile prepared the 14-member squad for the national team who will take on Zimbabwe. Those 13 players who will not be in the squad will be released for the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), slated to start on January 10.
“We have sent the list. After the approval of the president it will be disclosed and Hathurusingha will start working with them,” said selector Minhajul Abed in Nannu.
He however said that they brought up slight changes to the team which played the last Twenty20 match against Zimbabwe. Nannu though didn’t disclose the name which players could find their place in the squad, it is all but certain that new pace sensation Abu Haider Rony and wicket-keeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan could be drafted.
“There are some changes to the squad that played the T20 series against Zimbabwe in last November. Some new players could be included. We are trying to form a good T20 squad for the Asia Cup and World T20. With the series against Zimbabwe, we hope we’ll find a core group of players for the T20 cricket.”
