Ilias replaces Amirul as national team manager

Former Bangladesh international Ilias Hossain is going to replace long server Amirul Islam Babu as the national football team manager for upcoming Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football tournament.
The eight-team Bangabandhu Cup Football will begin on January 8. The matches of the first four days will be held at Shamsul Huda Chowdhury Stadium in Jessore. The rest of the matches will be staged at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) was held on December 27, after a humiliating 3-1defeat of Bangladesh team at the hands of the Maldives which shattered their hopes to play in the last fours, unanimously decided that there would be a huge change in the team management.
Apart from Ilias Hossain’s appointing as the manager, Azmol Ahmed Tapan, who has been accompanying the national team’s observer for last few months, was given the duty as team leader replacing Iqbal Hossain.
Ilias Hossain, while talking to the reporters said that to overcome the failures in the SAFF Championship Bangladesh will have to do better in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup.
“We will have to do better result in the Bangabandhu Cup to erase all bad memory or  failures in the SAFF. Actually, we have no much option to bring any changes in the team, so after bitter experiences in the SAFF, players will try to recover their upsetting results.”
Ilias, the former national striker also said, “We will show zero tolerance about any disciplinary issue. The boys should shrug of  their terrible performance in the SAFF and should come out with positive mindset in the Bangabandhu Cup to satisfy the home crowd with their performance.”
The Bangladesh team have already started their preparation under coach Maruful Haque who was reappointed after the SAFF Championship. On the other hand, the Bangladesh Olympic team which will also participate in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup, have also started their training camp under a Spanish coach Gonzalez Sanchaez. Former national star and member of BFF Sattyajit Das Rupu has been made as the manager of the Under-23 tem
