Bigger uplift programmes being implemented: Ranga

RANGPUR: State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga yesterday said maximum development has taken place in Rangpur during the tenure of the present government, reports BSS.  “Besides, a number of bigger development programmes are being implemented in Rangpur,” he said and called upon the city mayor, city councilors and district administration to be more aware for properly completing the ongoing uplift activities. The state minister was addressing a day-long seminar styled ‘Planned Development and Housing: Rangpur Perspective’ jointly organised by ‘Mukta Akash’ and Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) at RCCI auditorium in the city as the chief guest.
President of Bangladesh Institute of Planners Professor  Golam Rahman, former President of REHAB Abdul Awal and Deputy Director of the Department of City Development KZ Hossain Taufiq addressed as resource persons.
The experts delivered separate power point presentations with concrete diagrams on the developments in Rangpur in the seminar. They put importance on turning Rangpur into a world standard city through ensuring proper urbanisation and housing as per a long term master plan considering all necessary aspects towards the directions. The chief guest appreciated the organisers of the time-befitting seminar here and called upon all concerned for working unitedly with full commitments for ensuring planned urbanisation, development and housing in Rangpur to turn it into a modern city. Later, the state minister distributed 5,000 blankets among cold-hit poor and distressed people.
