The Independent still kept their hopes alive to move into the quarterfinal of the Pran Frooto BSJA Media Cricket Cup defeating Independent Television by eight runs in a keenly contested group match yesterday.
Held at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium in the six-a-side tournament, The Independent batted first and scored 101 runs in the stipulated six overs and booked the Independent TV for 93 runs. Pavel of The Independent was adjudged man of the match. A total of eight matches were held on the day. Apart from The Independent, Jamuna Television, Somoy Television, ATN News, SA TV, BanglaVision, Banik Barta and Boishakhai Television won their respective matches on the day.
Jamuna Television defeated (52/3) the Daily Jugantar (50/3) by three wickets, Somoy Television (48/0) beat The New Age (46/4) by five wickets, ATN News beat (84/2) Daily Naya Dinganta (80/1) by four wickets, SA TV (45/2) beat Daily Sokaler Khobor (42/5) by three wickets, BanglaVision (68/1) beat Bdnews24.com (65/2) by four wickets, Daily Bonik Barta 93/1) defeated NTV (78/3) by 15 runs and Boishakhai (93/1) beat Jago news.com (92/1) by four wickets.
