Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) clinched the Exim Bank 26th National Women Handball title beating Bangladesh Ansar 28-19 in a fairly contested final at the Shaheed M Monsur Ali Stadium in the capital yesterday. The winners led the first half 13-7. Shirin with ten goals was the top scorer for BJMC. Dalia also played well for the champions netting six goals. Rubina (7) and Nishi (5) were the two leading scorers for Ansar.
Shirin of BJMC was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
Earlier, Bangladesh Police outplayed Naogaon DSA 14-7 in a play-off for third fourth placing match. Hasina and Anee slammed home five goals each for Police. Noorjahan and Ankhi banged two goals each for Naogaon.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society chairman Hafiz Ahmed Majumdar distributed prizes as chief guest. Bangladesh Handball Federation president AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the closing ceremony. Bangladesh woman chess player IWM Rani Hamid was present as special guest.
