CHITTAGONG: At least 30 shanties were gutted by a fire that took place in a slum at Railway Colony in the city’s Sadarghat area yesterday, reports UNB. Fire Service sources said the fire broke out at a shanty in the slum at Ice Factory Road around 11:50 am and soon engulfed 29 adjoining shanties. On information, three firefighting units rushed in and were trying to douse the flame, said Shahidur Rahman, an operator of Chittagong Fire Service Control Room. However, the origin of the fire could not be known immediately. No casualty was reported till the filling this report.
