President Abdul Hamid, who took over as the country's 20th President on April 24, 2013, turned 73 yesterday, reports UNB. On the occasion, officials and employees of the President's Office greeted him at a simple ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban. Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Hamid said, "I didn't do politics for personal gain. I spent my life for the welfare of people. I want all to pray for me so that I can dedicate the rest of my life to the welfare of people." A munajat was offered seeking long life of the President as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country. Family members of the President were present. Abdul Hamid was born on January 1, 1944 at Kamalpur in Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj district.
