Four policemen were injured in an attack allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Juba League activists at Saifia Darbar Sharif in Moju Chowdhuryrhat area of Laxmipur sadar upazila yesterday, reports UNB. The injured cops are sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Abu Sayed, and constables Al Amin, Abdul Motaleb and Hasan.
Police said the BCL and Juba League activists swooped on the policemen during the distribution of food on the second day of the annual mahfil at the Darbar Sharif.
As the BCL and Juba League activists were trying to get the meals without buying tickets and standing in the queue, the policemen told them to follow the rules.
At one stage, 10-15 BCL and Juba League men attacked police personnel and beat them, said office-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Md Abdullah Al Mamun Bhuiyan.
Meanwhile, police arrested a man in connection with the incident, he said.
