12 kg jatkas seized

Munshiganj: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 12 kg jatkas (hilsa less than 10 inches long) from a launch in the Meghna river of Gojaria upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
Jetty officer Aminul Haque of Gojaria Coast Guard said on secret information, a team of the coast guards conducted a drive in Dhaka-bound launch ‘MV Jamal-3’ from Barisal on the river in the morning and seized the jatkas.
The owner of the fishes could not be found, added the coast guard official. The seized hilsa were later distributed among local orphanages.
