Passing rate falls in PSC exams under Ctg board

The per cent of passing out in Primary School Certificate (PSC) and equivalent Ebtedayee exams has fallen in Chittagong compared to the last year. In the 2014, 93.93 per cent students were passed in Ebtedayee examinations while only 90.63 per cent students passed this year. In 2014 the passing rate in PSC was 97.87 per cent while it was 97.36 per cent this time. However, the numbers of GPA-5 has increased in PSC this year, in 2014 a total of 10,511 students got GPA-5 while this year it rose to 12,634.
1, 48,507 students passed out of 1, 52,528 in Chittagong while 70,048 were male students and 82,480 students were female. The examination was held in 343 centres, said Chittagong District Administration sources.
At least 3,851 students were failed while 4,236 students absent in the examinations.
Mesbah Uddin, deputy commissioner of Chittagong district administration formally declared the results at around 11am in district admonition conference hall. As per the rate of passing out Rangunia Thana secured first position, Raozan and Chandgaon Thana second and third position respectively, said Mesbah Uddin. From six Thanas of Chittagong city a total of 47,598 students took part in the examinations in 49 exam centres while 1,08,947 students from 14 upazilas of Chittagong took part in the examination in 294 examination centres, said district administration sources. The exams began November 22 and ended on November 30.
