The combined pass rate of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) tests is 92.33 per cent, which is 1.92 per cent higher than last year.
Results of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) 2015 examinations under eight general education and madrasa boards published yesterday were made public by Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at a press conference in the Secretariat the same day.
In 2015 exams, there were 1,99,168 more students, pass percentage increased by 2,26,343, pass rate by 2.46 per cent and Grade Point Average (GPA)-5 by 50,557 as compared to the year before. Also, pass percentage and GPA-5 of girls is higher than boys.
Among the eight general education boards, Rajshahi has topped the list with a pass rate of 97.47. Rajshahi is also in second position in obtaining GPA-5 by 35,083, whereas Chittagong has scored the lowest pass rate of 85.48 per cent. The Dhaka Board has secured seventh position in pass rate, but topped the list in obtaining GPA-5 by 64,010 students.
Moreover, participation of girl students in JSC and JDC has increased by 150,697 as compared to boys, and they have also obtained 26,384 GPA-5 more than boys. The Education Minister said, “It is positive news that participation of girl students compared to boys is increasing every year.”
Further, cent-per-cent pass percentage has been achieved by 8,583 educational institutions in 2015, while it was 8,889 the previous year.
Average pass rate under the eight general education boards is 92.31 per cent, which was 89.85 per cent in 2014, while the average pass rate under the madrasa Board is 92.46 per cent, which was 93.50 per cent the previous year. A total of 20,98,082 students out of 22,72,289 under eight general and madrasa boards have come out successful.
This year, the number of GPA-5 holders in the eight boards also increased by 40,028. The General Education Board got 187,502 GPA-5, which is an increase of 50,557, while the Madrasa Board got 8,761 GPA-5, which was 19,290 the previous year.
In eight overseas institutions, pass rate has been 98.21 per cent, which was 99.20 in 2014, with the number of total GPA-5 holders this year being 111, which was 138 last year. A total of 548 students have passed out of 558.
Yesterday morning, Nurul handed over the JSC and JDC results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In 2015, the average pass rate of boys has been 92.24 per cent and they have obtained 84,960 GPA, while the pass rate of girls has been 92.42 per cent and they have obtained 111,303 GPA-5.
Speaking board-wise, Rajshahi has topped the list in pass rate, while Barisal has achieved second position with 97.26 per cent, followed by Jessore 95.44, Sylhet 93.59, Dinajpur 91.52, Comilla 92.51, Dhaka 90.39 and Chittagong 85.48 per cent. Pass percentage of Madrasa Board is 92.46 per cent.
The Dhaka Board registered the highest GPA-5 of 64,010 this year, which was 46,188 in 2014, while Rajshahi has got 35,083, which was 23,606 the previous year, and Comilla got 20,747, which was 17,264 in 2014.
The JSC and JDC exams began on November 1 and ended on November 18.
