Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said that they are keen more to organise the bilateral series against Zimbabwe rather than a tri-national series during the blank slot of January ahead of ICC World Twenty20.
“There are some matters erupted regarding the series against Zimbabwe. Considering all the things in mind we are being moved forward. We had a plan to arrange a tri-nation series. We’ve talked with couple of boards. Even the discussion is still going on. But we’re hopeful we could at least organize a T20 series against Zimbabwe,” said Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO of BCB.
“We’re yet to ensure about the tri-nation series. We’ll need some more times to make sure the matter. We’re being considered some important things. The bulk of the teams are busy in international games. We all have World Cup ahead. And so, every board takes times to make their final decision. But I think we’ll go forward with the Zimbabwe series if the tri-nation series is not possible to arrange,” Chowdhury told reporters at his BCB office yesterday.
“It’ll rely on team management what will be the number of matches in the series. There is a significance of their decision. It’ll be settled by discussing with all. But our planning is that we’ll try whatever he could play the number of matches,” he added.
Nizam Uddin said that they will try to fetch Australia as soon as possible to play a series at home yard.
“There is a limitation in the commitment of Future Tour Programme (FTP) regarding the teams like Australia and India. When Australia suspended the series they are talking with us to arrange a series in a suitable time since then. Anything regarding the tour is yet to fix. But we’ll try to bring them as early as possible,” he claimed.
Citing the year of 2015 as the most successful year in Bangladesh Cricket, the CEO said that they have achieved too many things in this year.
“Besides individual performance, we placed our team in a respectable position in the World Cup Down Under. We earned the qualification into the ICC Champions Trophy. We developed our ICC rankings, where we placed seventh from nine. We clinched four series against Zimbabwe, Pakistan, India and South Africa on the trot,” the CEO said.
