Councillor candidate killed in road accident

A councillor candidate in Kalkini municipality election was killed in a road accident at Bhorghata in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Asmat Ali, 35, a councillor candidate from ward No 6 of the municipality. Sources at Kalkini Police Station said the accident took place around 4pm when a speedy motorcycle hit Asmat while crossing the Bhorghata-Kalkini road in the area, leaving him injured critically.
He was taken to Barisal Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
