Int�l plastic fair in Dhaka from January 20

The four-day 11th International Plastic Fair-2016 (IPF-16) will begin at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital from January 20, reports UNB. Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BPGMEA) in collaboration with Taiwan-based Chan Chao Intl Co Ltd will organise the mega event, said BPGMEA president Md Jasim Uddin at a press conference its office in the capital’s Paltan area yesterday.
The IPF-16 will also host 25th Council Meeting of Asia Plastic Forum (APF) and 16th Caucus Meeting of Asean Federation of Plastic Industries (AFPI). Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will inaugurate the plastic summit on January 20 while Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will address the closing ceremony on January 23.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Abdul Matlub Ahmad, AFPI chairman Ho Duc Lam, APF secretary general Callum Chen and IPF-16 co-organiser Chan Chao Intl Co Ltd executive director (overseas) Judy Wang will be present at the inaugural session.
Reading out a written statement, BPGMEA president said there will be over 350 stalls in the IPF-16 which will display a wide range of plastic goods and machineries, including plastic household items, packaging materials, plastic mould, toys, pharmaceuticals items, furniture, melamine, garment accessories and PP woven bags.
Mentioning that China, America and the European Union are controlling the global plastic market, he said Bangladesh holds only 0.01 per cent share of the global market which can be raised enormously by providing policy support and sustainable investment in the sector.
Jasim Uddin also thanked the government for allotting a plastic industrial park in Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj district.
The second day of the fair will host an international seminar on ‘Problems and Prospects of Plastics Waste Recycling in Bangladesh’ attended by experts from APF and AFPI, Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, mayors of two Dhaka city corporations Annisul Huq and Sayeed Khokon.
