Share prices fall on profit-booking

Most of the securities traded on Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges (DSE) suffered moderate price fall on their profit-booking sale pressure, reports BSS. At Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), 171 issues closed the week's first opening session lower and 126 scrips declined on Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). The number of gaining issues at DSE was only 98 while it was 74 at CSE.
Due to the price fall across the boards, the broader indices at the twin bourses closed the session flat in red. The DSEX was 5.80 points down at 4602.51 and the CSCX was 8.28 points lower at 8541.78.
The selective DS30 index, however, managed to close flat in green at 1747.50. All other selective indices at DSE and CSE ended lower.
The price fall was highly visible in large-cap stocks on both the bourses as some investors were cashing ahead of New Year's account adjustment, said market analysts.
They said the central bank's relaxation regarding the capital market exposure helped regain the investors' confidence, but there was still a lack of adequate fund flow as many of the investors remained cautious ahead of New Year and a new monetary policy statement.
The sale pressure around large-cap group made Beximco, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Delta Life, Emerald Oil and Quasem Drycell the day's most active securities. The daily trade value, however, declined on cautious transaction.
At DSE, a total of 8.14 crore shares worth Tk 333.31 crore traded on the day, which was lower from Thursday's 9.69 crore shares of Tk 429.37 crore.
At CSE, the number of trade shares were 6.66 crore and the
total value of these securities was Tk over 20 crore.
Desh Garment, FAS Finance, Atlas Bangladesh, Delta Life and Reliance Insurance were the leading gainers among the day's advancing issues those closed moderately higher despite wide-ranging price fall. The losing issues were LR Global, FBFIF, HFL, Zeal Bangla and Apex Food.
