A 23-member preliminary squad of Bangladesh national women’s cricket team will formally start their training camp ahead of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2016 at National Cricket Academy ground in the capital from Tuesday. Coming back home from Thailand after playing the qualifier for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2016, Bangladesh eves’ team went to vacation though some of the players regularly did their practice under the guideline of assistant coach Ashiqur Rahman Majumdar. All the preliminary squad will accommodate at Mirpur Krira Palli following their reporting to their head coach Janak Gamage, who returned Dhaka from vacation, will supervise them in the training camp.
The first week of the camp will be limited to fitness training only and then the regular practice session will be held with bat and ball. After the end of the training camp, the players will be released for a Twenty20 Tournament set by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The week-long tournament is scheduled to be held during the third week of January. All the preliminary squad coupled with some other selected guys, splitting into three groups, will supposed to take part in the tournament.
