After a mild cold wave in December, the meteorologists have forecast that the country’s northern region may be hit by a severe cold wave with the temperatures dipping below 6 degree Celsius. Already a mild cold wave has been blowing across the rolling plains of the north western Bangladesh, extending up to the north eastern tea valley in Srimangal where minimum temperatures had gone down to 6.01C on Saturday. The weather condition would roll over unchanged onto the new year, meteorologists said yesterday. Shah Alam, Director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, yesterday told BBC radio that the cold Siberian winds has not been felt severely yet.
But it (the Siberian) would arrive from mid-January, he said, without specifying any date.
